The Grande Hotel, at Beira, Mozambique, opened in 1955, supposed to be one of the most luxurious hotels at the Austral Africa region. Didn’t have the success his owners expected. Closed a few years later, it was used as conference centre until the Mozambique independence. With the beginning of the civil war, the hotel was occupied by refugees, until today. An estimate of 3500 people still lives there, as an enormous squatter.
